A seer of life, a unique combination of logic & sensibility, a true cosmopolitan and philanthropist, Basanti Devi witnessed life with immense impulse. Inspired by the holy preaching’s of Swami Vivekananda she had always sung for the oppressed and depressed humanity and dreamt of a Utopian world where there would be an era of Equality and Liberty. Through her writing she hailed the advancement of mankind in the era of science and rationality, but equally did she feels the necessity of universality and secularism for the exploration of true mankind. She relentlessly propagated the necessity of expansion of “Free knowledge” to subdue the fangs of social malign forces. Our Basantika Memorial Education Society tries for the abundant compensation of her unfulfilled dream by spreading Educational cultural, socio-logical as well as socio-economical education for all. The three daughter units Basantika Institute of Engineering & Technology [Polytechnic] (2009), Basantika English Academy (2013) and Basantika College of Education (2014) are all the effort to materialize her imagination but we have “Miles to go”. Her physical entity is not with us anymore, but her pioneering inspiration are always with us for our enlightenment and always will be.
